Be Curious Community Cohorts (Middle Level)

$227.00

We all need community. We need to be with people who “speak our language” and “just get it.” But really, it’s not just any people — it’s others who reflect your values, lift you up, and drive you forward in your being, learning, and growth.

Right now, you have A LOT on your plate. 😓 And there are times when we all need to turn it off and just check out. But we all know, you don’t really stop “being a teacher” even in those hours, and the things that weigh on you during your teaching-days don’t just disappear in your off-hours.

What if there were a space where we could elevate our own perspectives and strategies about our teaching practice in connection with others who are right there with you?

“We don’t have to do all of it alone. We were never meant to.” – Brene Brown

We all need community. We need to be with people who “speak our language” and “just get it.” But really, it’s not just any people — it’s others who reflect our values, lift us up, and drive us forward in our being, learning, and growth.

Right now, you have A LOT on your plate. 😓 And there are times when we all need to turn it off and just check out. But we all know, you don’t really stop “being a teacher” even in those hours, and the things that weigh on you during your teaching-days don’t just disappear in your off-hours.

What if there was a space where we could elevate our own perspectives and strategies about our teaching practice in connection with others who are right there with us?

🔎  I see a community of dedicated educators who are willing and able to dedicate one hour together, once each week — to learn, to reflect, and simply to process their experiences and collaborate on planning.

👓  I see a transformation, from typical to three dimensional, through a targeted series of short workshops that will stretch your mindset and elevate your instructional practice — growing your pedagogy while “filling your cup” with connection, collaboration, and community.

“We are hardwired to connect with others, it’s what gives purpose and meaning to our lives, and without it there is suffering.” Brene Brown

🔬 What is possible?

Together, we will

  • reflect on why we do what we do so we can find purpose showing up each and every day
  • evaluate the impact of our attitudes, hidden beliefs, and assumptions so we can see, value, and serve the students we have
  • identify and integrate real-world, relevant phenomena into our daily lessons so we can engage our learners and make learning stick
  • craft a culture and practice of “figuring it out” so we can develop critical thinkers and problem-solvers who are excited to come to class
  • connect and collaborate so it doesn’t all feel so hard and so isolating

🔬 How does it work?

Be Curious Community Cohorts meet once each week for one hour at a set time. [See the schedule below.] Cohort groups will run for 8 weeks

  • Middle Level: February 11, 2021 – 6:30PM EST/3:30PM PST
  • High School Biology: February 15, 2021 – 6:15 PM EST/3:15PM PST

At the beginning of each week, a short learning module will be released to complete at your convenience — a video training (audio-only version available) and a brief workbook to support your reflection and implementation of the practice.

During the hour-long meeting, a short period of time will be reserved to discuss the workshop and its application to our classrooms. Then, we will open the floor to meet your needs — whether that’s general planning, troubleshooting, or simply connection-building, chit chat, and being together. A private digital community classroom will be available for off-hours collaboration as well.

Cohorts are based on grade level and discipline. We are working to create cohorts for Middle Level Science, Biology, Earth and Space Science/Earth Systems, Physical Science/Physics, and Chemistry. If there is interest in Elementary, we will add that to the group selection. Upon enrollment, you will have the opportunity to identify the cohort group you would like to participate in.

  • eight 60-minute community meetings
  • Cultivating Curiosity workshop series (one training, plus supplementary tools, released weekly to elevate your three-dimensional teaching practice)
